January 2025
Happy New Year to everyone! We have started off 2025 with our usual schedule of activities, celebrating birthdays and visits from local entertainers. We have also introduced a new resident of the feathered kind! Billie the cockerel! Registered as our official pet, he’s already bringing so much joy to our residents. 💛 We're now looking at introducing some hen friends 🐔 and are presently sourcing a chicken run - we will keep you updated.
What's it all about? Hen-keeping is part of HenPower, an amazing program by the Equal Arts initiative. It helps combat loneliness and depression while giving older people a renewed sense of purpose. Christmas at Hollybank
This month at Hollybank has been packed with excitement, as we've enjoyed a host of seasonal activities alongside our usual schedule. Highlights included our annual Christmas Party at the Running Hare, visits from the Hawarden Singers, the children from St. Ethelwold’s School and Ysgol Ty Ffynnon, Christmas Creative mojo, a clothing party, and our own in-house celebrations with our family buffet and party on 16th December, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this month extra special—the residents and staff have cherished every joyful moment, and we’re eagerly looking forward to all that 2025 has in store!

Visit from St Ethelwold's School Children
A lovely visit from the children of St. Ethelwold’s School, who filled our home with the magic of Christmas through their beautiful carols. 🎶🎅 After their performance, the children joined our residents for some festive colouring fun and handmade cards. 🖍️🎨 It was heartwarming to see our residents light up with joy and soak up all the attention from our little visitors. Thank you so much for coming to spend time with us.
Clothing Party with Windsor Fashions
👗✨ We hosted a clothing party for our residents on 18th December, and they had an amazing time browsing and shopping. 🛍️ Huge thanks to Windsor Fashions for coming in and bringing such beautiful pieces. Our residents enjoyed their shopping spree and the chance to refresh their wardrobes!
Hawarden Singers
We were delighted to welcome The Hawarden Singers today, who filled our home with the beautiful sounds of Christmas carols. Their heartfelt performance brought so much joy and warmth to everyone. Thank you so much for visiting us! ❤
